ROOMS TO SPARE

Our list of alumni includes people who no longer live near Boston and people who are not as comfortable driving at night as they once were. In an effort to address these problems, we reserved a block of rooms at the Embassy Suites hotel for people attending our reunion. The rates shown are the lowest rates offered for these rooms, so it is not necessary to compare using Trivago, Hotels.com, or any of the other hotel booking websites.

  EXPANDING THE DATABASE

While our list of alumni now includes almost 900 people, the only information we have is your name, your email address, and whether or not you've attended recent reunions. We'd like to add the following: year you started working at Teradyne, year you left Teradyne, your last name when you worked at Teradyne, if it was different, the location where you worked, the area where you worked at Teradyne, e.g., engineering, sales, finance. Now that you've found our website, just click on the Join Mailing List section and enter your information, as if you were not already on our list. We will immediately see a duplicate and eliminate the old entry. Maybe, if we feel energetic, we'll publish some statistics about who attended the reunion.

  KEEPING DOWN THE NOISE

One of the reasons we like having our reunions in the Atrium of the Embassy Suites Hotel is that since there is no ceiling, it is relatively easy to have many conversations going on at once, without creating a large amount of noise. Evidently some other gathering–certainly not our group–created enough noise in the Atrium to cause some of the hotel guests whose rooms border the Atrium to complain, so the hotel is asking us either to finish by 9:00PM or move to the bar at 9:00PM. Our last reunion was scheduled for 6:30-10:00PM, and most people were gone by about 9:30. We plan to schedule our 2017 reunion for 5:30-9:00PM. People who either get kicked out of the Atrium after 9:00PM or want to avoid getting kicked out are welcome to go to the bar.

  REVISED BILLING PROCEDURE

Almost since our reunions started, in 2000, we've done billing by sending everyone an invoice on PayPal, even though more than 85% of the people on our mailing list had to cancel the invoice because they were not attending. Now, we're changing that. If you are on our mailing list, you will receive an email that contains a PayPal icon. Clicking on the PayPal icon will allow you to enter your PayPal password and pay. People who do not plan to attend the reunion will not click on the icon, and therefore there will be no need to cancel an invoice.

  GRAPHICS NEEDED

Now that there is a website for Teradyne Alumni, as with all new products people will ask for additional features and changes to the appearance. It would be nice to include more old photos. If you have any old Teradyne brochures, photos, or annual reports, we would appreciate it very much if you would scan them and send them to us.
